Attractions As Arizona’s 6th largest city, Scottsdale as a whole is a thriving community. Major events that take place in the city include the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show where over 2,000 purebred Arabian horses compete for prizes. Embracing the West’s cowboy culture, The Jaycees Parada del Sol is a month long event that draws cowboys and cowgirls from across the nation. The Barrett-Jackson Auto Show, draws car enthusiasts to the city every January. You can also visit Taliesin West, the winter home of master architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Scottsdale’s shopping district has become a fixture of the American Southwest due to its many upscale boutiques. Education The Scottsdale Unified School District has 33 schools which offer K-12 education. The Arizona Department of Education has given 21 of these schools its highest ranking. There are 24 Private schools in Scottsdale, including the El Dorado Private School and Thunderbird Christian Elementary. Scottsdale Community College is the primary source of higher education in the city, though students often commute to Arizona State University’s Tempe campus.
Recreation With over 125 art galleries in Scottsdale, art lovers will never run out of things to see. These galleries are famous for their Western and Native American art. Residents can also watch the San Francisco Giants in their spring training at Scottsdale Stadium. Major parks in the area include the Out of Africa Wildlife Park and the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.
